Lakers, read the release.

It is not equity financing. It is convertable prefered. That means it comes with a preferred dividend equal to a market interest rate for equivalent credit quality. Investors are here for the dividend, not the converted shares. That is an extra incentive.

No convertable debt is issued at or near "in the money". If so, the company would just raise money through an equity offering.

I actually also like the higher price "just in case" there is a short squeeze. The price would not get high enough for the financing to be converted.
