if the deal goes through, T will own its own private access to millions of homes and will its own local and long distance services over coax as soon as possible. they'll build off the combined Teleport/TCI infrastructure to extend fiber to more business customers also. timeframe and cost are big question marks. T also picks up a controlling stake in ATHM as part of the deal. it'll take a while to digest the news and spin out all the ramifications, but it's a biggie. mark
