Another Metaphase deal... No revenue estimates of what the deal is worth in this release...still it seems that they are accumulating asian biz when everyone else blames their woes on that part of the world. ====================================================== SDRC Receives Metaphase Software Order From Daewoo Heavy Industries, Ltd CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1998--Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (NASDAQ:SDRC), the PDM market leader, today announced that Daewoo Heavy Industries, Ltd., the leading Korean producer of diesel engines, construction equipment and industrial vehicles located in Inchon, Korea, has placed an order for Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) product data management (PDM) software. Daewoo Heavy Industries (DHI) will use SDRC's Metaphase software as a PDM tool for managing product configurations, bills of material, engineering changes and documents, including engineering drawings. "To help maintain our market leadership in a variety of heavy industries, it is essential that our PDM system can change and expand as needed. SDRC's Metaphase software can keep pace with our growth," said Mr. Duck-joo Ra, Executive Managing Director, DHI Central Research and Development Division. DHI will initially deploy Metaphase software in its engine, construction equipment and industrial vehicle division in Inchon, and expand to include it in the rolling stock and heavy equipment division in Anyang, and its remaining divisions in Changwon. Daewoo Heavy Industries chose Metaphase Enterprise due to its customization flexibility and leading market position. In addition, the company has used SDRC's I-DEAS(TM) Mechanical Design Automation software as its computer-aided engineering tool since 1983. Daewoo Heavy Industries also has been using I-DEAS as its 3D modeling tool since 1994 for industrial trucks (lift truck), diesel engines, and construction equipment projects. "Daewoo's decision to add Metaphase Enterprise to its I-DEAS foundation represents an exciting opportunity for PDM-CAD collaboration. Through its flexibility, Metaphase can foster collaboration and expand to meet Daewoo's wide-ranging industrial equipment manufacturing goals," said Ron Schmitz, General Manager of Strategic Marketing and Business Development for the Metaphase Technology Division of SDRC.
