Sam, < AOL and Digital Courier $12 million dollar deal..>
I must admit, I'm impressed. The growing power of Aol continues to amaze me and, contrary to popular opinion here, I am not an Aol short.
What I am, though, is an old fashioned anti-monopolist and there is no doubt that Aol appears to fast becoming a monopoly. Great if you're an Aol shareholder, bad if you're an idealist.
In my opinion, Case/Pitman are pursuing the 'Worlds largest newspaper' concept with a new twist.
Newspapers also financially survive by their advertising revenue, but this is the first time in history that a newspaper can command an equity position from its advertising clients.
Wow, the customer pays Aol $12mi, and also has to give them a piece of the action. That's POWER.
