Doc,
Why are you so eager for a buyout? Don't you think CKFR has a good chance to go at it alone? Did you read the article in the WSJ yesterday about AOL and how they faced a similar situation when Microsoft tried to buy them in 1993. Steve Case's stake was worth around $30mil then(if my memory serves) and now it is worth over $400 mil. CKFR seems to have all the pieces in place to kick ass. Why should we sell out at these prices??? If I am missing something please fill me in.
AE

>>>.....but then who would have predicted chrysler/benz, citi/traveler, att/tci, bank of america/nations, seek/disney, etc?

Not me. Actually I was just thinking a good partner for CheckFree would be AT&T. Pete keeps saying that CF needs to have Dial Tone quality. AT&T is fairly neutral, compared to a bank buyout, and may be one of the few companies that may satisfy all investors. I guess we will just have to wait and see...........

Curtis:

Are you hopeful for a buyout? If so I would like your thoughts on why you think this would be in the best interest of existing shareholders.

CKFR is pretty much a pure play company right now with little debt. It would seem to me that shareholders today could miss the long term ride we all hope for with an acqusition.
