those numbers were not researched from JP Morgan, they are from a market research firm that JP Morgan subscribes to. Is it a credible firm? that is for each individual person to decide. I can show you ATM switch market numbers that have NN losing marketshare (Dataquest 1996 29% NN, 1997 21% NN). JP Morgan footnotes its sources. Besides its own researchers, it uses Dell'Oro Group, Vertical Systems Group, IDC, and Dataquest. I don't have access to professional research numbers. Those reports I've seen listed come with price tags in the $1-2,000 range. As for my URLs, 13 were from other sources, 5 from NN. This is a far cry from your claim that "most were citing company sound bites or press releases." Stentor is tightly coupled with MCI, but those switches are not part of the 22 I identified. So what's your revised total? You ask about BCTEL. This is there "long term strategy", what is the time frame for deployment? any deployed yet?. What are the "85 switches"...can I assume 36170's? Obviously it can't be done before NN equipment actually supports OC48 and IP right? If you read all the reports listed from Canadian sources, Stentor, BCE, and BCTEL, you'll notice many references to being the first nation to be totally digital. BCTel has been on the leading edge of high-speed upgrades in conjunction with its 51% partner, GTE. I've not visited any sites where the 36170 was installed, but I have visited GTE's ADSL trials in Redmond, WA., and I know the BCTel upgrades are underway and have been since late last summer. As for the OC48 and IP questions, I'm guessing those companies ordering the 36170s know what they're doing and I'm certainly not going to second guess them. You question NN's published numbers:Absurd? sure, if the claims are true. I am simply asking where they are installed so that I might verify those claims. Show me the switches! :) I would certainly trust a company with litigation possibilities hanging over its head far more than I'd trust a Silicon Investor contributor who doesn't use his/her real name and has no data to back his or her claims. And, please, don't send me to the sources you quote. I support my claims, you support yours. Regards, Pat
