Phil, ATI's stock price has jumped for, at least partially, the following reasons:

-Glowing article in the Toronto Globe & Mail this week. Whenever that happens, the price moves knee jerk style. All Canada must read that paper. Or at least all the Canadians with money.
-Analysts have raised target prices to post 1:4 split prices of $22.50-$25.00 per share. Was in the $16s last week. When this has happened in the past, the stock rapidly closes the gap.
-Another Compaq design win.
-Another Sun design win
-Earnings announcement for Q3 expected in the first half of July.
-Probably more stuff covered on the ATI thread: (https://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=10989)

The ATI thread has enough people on it now that I seldom have to contribute as they get the data posted before I even know.

Generally, all this falls out of the massive number of PC OEM design wins from the RAGE family of products, as chronicled at the ATI web site press release section (http://www.atitech.ca/news_awards_events/press_releases/1998pr.html). It's a dizzying number of wins. Reminds me of the Virge line from S3, when several new design wins were announced weekly. Who knows when it all will end or flatten, but it sure is interesting now.
