JOCK... GREAT NEW THREAD... HOPE IT STAYS "CLEAN" (If you know what I mean...:-)

I just came back from a trip to the U.S. I hit all of the major computer stores and was very impressed with IOMEGA's presence compared to what I saw on my last trip 4 months ago. IOMEGA not only seems to have a lot more product available but it is more strategically located. Comments from all of the store personnel that I talked to was uniformly positive... i.e. strong sales vs competition and very few returns or complaints. I know that my channel checks, S.Batehs ingram info., etc... is very little to base an opinion on but I found it odd that IOMEGA's acting CEO announced last week (I think) that sales have been weak. Everyone I know and all of the businesses I deal with are using ZIP drives... It really "seems" like ZIP is close to becoming the standard... Of course that doesn't matter much if they aren't making a profit.

I love IOMEGA's products (I bought a ZIP Plus while in the U.S. last week)and want to see the company AND it's shareholders succeed but I think the stock has a long way to go before it recovers from the disasters of the last 6 - 8 months. I don't think all of the bad news is out yet... I like the focus on OEM inclusion and think long term it is what IOMEGA needs to get to the next level (It's the disks stupid!!!) I think the stock will have long periods of stagnation with brief periods of high volatility interspersed (sp?)I think the stock is super sensitive to any sort of bad news and potential investors will be wary of any good news... I also think that the stock will get knocked back down everytime it makes a new high by the thousands of investors who have had their money stuck in negative territory for so long, as soon as they get whole I think they will sell and move on to something less risky and frustrating... I am going to wait and see Q2 results and see how CLIK!'s release and reception in the marketplace goes before buying back into IOMEGA... there are just too many other better stocks out there right now... IMHO...

I was reading one of this month's technology magazines on the flight back to Argentina. The magazine's main article for the month was about all the new innovations and products related to digital photography... The article went into great detail about how digital photography was the wave of the future and that the only thing holding it back right now was a lack of storage (memory) to hold high resolution pictures. They reviewed in detail all of the flash card options, Sony's Mavic floppy disk storage option but never once mentioned CLIK! With CLIK! supposedly so close to release I find it odd and disappointing that IOMEGA doesn't seem to be getting the word out about CLIK!

Good Luck everyone...
