Richard, Thanks. Always a well thought out answer from you. I will have to side with Sean. The DNA analogy is great. Programmers need to bomb proof. Users need to read their manuals first. I'm sure when I get to the bottom of this problem it will be something stupid that I did. I have resisted upgrading to w95 like the plague. I tend to read the manual. This takes time. I don't want to have to take the time to understand the inner workings of a "plug and play", guess I will have to now. It took me 10 minutes just to find what vers windows I was running. This is progress? User friendly? I upgrade only to be able to use software I want, as in this case Meta Stock and Q+. Win31 on my other machines work fairly well after EXTENSIVE fine tuning. Even my XT with DOS 3.2 does superb with the database routines and multi image programing, thank you very much. Furthur more when win31 came out with smartdrive, a standard config of it would put a saved file into memory first and delay save to hardisk . This means if you quickly saved a file and shut off the computer, the file was not saved! Is this something we want? Is this something we should have known? My point: W95 on my machine is the run of mill, non fine tuned, standard config. A standard setup should not wig it out. Me, a DUMBA user should not have to be technically inclined just to use it. My beef is more with MSFT, but if they built it rock solid, where would they get their annual 50 bucks from everybody?! Alas , it's not a perfect world. LOL!
