Dear Paul - while I am interested in StockMan's response also, rest assured that the subject will surface again in the coming CC. While there isn't a whole lot to talk about until the fat lady sings, it may be worthwhile for BAY mgt to give a running commentary as the the wedding day is getting closer. As you ve said, there isn't much to gauge except for the current partnership-type projects, we'll have to see how the sale-mix works heading into Q3. Is there pre-merger cross selling? How does LU handle the reselling of BAY gears? And how does BAY handle the reselling of YURI gears? Yes, it is risky business to extrapolate with such flimsy observations, but that hasn't stopped WS from doing so <VBG>

Btw, a quick comment about the query about ATT/TCOMA marriage [with respect to BAY.] Together with TCOMA, BAY is also one of the cos initially bankrolling ATHM

best, Bosco

Paul,
Re -- The merger won't take affect for about 90 days. Therefore, no integration(beyond current partnership-type projects) will be going on for analysts to assess.

Analysts always look beyond current Q results into the future. Markets are forward looking.

Analysts will quiz, to flush out further details on the merger (e.g Mr Roth mentioned that Mr House would be responsible for data/IP and integration -- what that means will need to be clarified, as well as the function of Bay as a subsidiary, how they plan on handling culture issues etc..)

Re -- Earnings...

You seem to place a "make or break" emphasis on earnings. IMO they are less relevant missing/exceeding estimates by a little will be irrelevant 2 wks past the result date. Disastourous results on the other hand could have an impact.
