Ken,
"output=symbols.lst" just generates the QP list; Process MS has to know where to put the MS files.
For a QPV root dir of \meta, Process MS ="e:\meta\symbols\",VMS; seems logical, but QP mimics 'C' in treating '\' as an 'escape character'.
[The '\' means please handle what follows as a metacharacter -- for example, 'C' uses print "\n" instead of println.]

So, you have to 'escape the escape' by repeating the '\':

Process MS ="e:\\meta\\symbols\\",VMS; (The last two aren't needed.)

Bob

Hi Ken:

Following your suggestion, I changed this last line to read:

Process MS ="e:\meta\symbols\",VMS;

It needs to be:

ProcessMS ="e:\meta\symbols\",VMS;

with no space between Process and MS. Maybe that's just a typo in your note, though, and you've got it right in the scan. If you didn't have the space in the scan, I'm a DUMBA and don't know what to do, 'cept maybe scratch my head.

Brooke

I've found some interesting discrepancies between QP1 and QP2. I did a scan of all NYSE and NASDAQ issues for 6/19. QP1 returned 8,778 hits and QP2 returned 9,733. 8,678 symbols were the same in both lists.

696 symbols had different opens; 711 differents highs; 535 different lows and 700 different closes. 901 symbols (10%) had at least one such discrepancy.

In most cases, the QP2 symbols with discrepancies had the same open, high, low and close.

842 QP1 symbols had the same high and low compared to 2,270 QP2 symbols.

The QP1scan took three and a half minutes and QP2 took six and a half minutes.
