The MediaGX was a very creative part, far ahead of Intel in the SOC game. However, it has not been nearly enough to keep Cyrix and now NSM from losing lots of money in producing X86 chips. Of course, we hope that IDTI won't be plagued with the same yield and production problems that NSM/Cyrix has faced with their bloated MII design. Looking at the problems that AMD and Cyrix/NSM have had trying to make a profit in the X86 business is scary. National is nearly "betting the farm" that they can do an X86 SOC by the middle of next year.
