"This is a bad deal for ATT shareholders."

Maybe, maybe not. This territory is uncharted and time will tell what T does with this bold move and how they'll come out. They've got the local access they wanted from GTE and the mega bandwidth that a cable company brings to the home and business--both in one move.

Congrats to Armstong and Co. for making a bold move rather than continuing to watch its competitors strategically position themselves with intelligent partnership relations. This is something Boob Allen most likely would have never done.

Now instead of reacting with lawsuits against little startup Qwest, US West, Ameritech, WorldCom/MCI, etc., they can finally begin to make their own waves.

Risky move. I like it. A major play had to be made for T to have a chance at continuing on into the future as a major player. Today showed that T has a heartbeat and some nads of large proportion.

What they do with them will be exciting to watch be played out on the high stakes table of telecom.
