AT&T clarifies TCI deal value
NEW YORK, June 24 (Reuters) - AT&T Corp. (T - news) clarified Wednesday that its deal with Tele-Communications Inc. will cost $48 billion in stock and assumed debt.

Earlier, AT&T chairman C. Michael Armstrong had said the deal was worth $68 billion.

AT&T explained that the $68 billion figure included a value of $20 billion placed on TCI's Liberty Media Corp. (LBTYA - news) programming arm. AT&T will not have to pay any additional money for Liberty or its tracking stock.

AT&T explained that the tracking stock ''tracks financial performance of a specific business unit, division or subsidiary of a corporation.''

So please don't confuse the AT&T Chairman with details, like is it $68 Billion or $48 Billion. Malone already has them so confused, just wait.
