What if it splits tomorrow..
Is there any SEC regulation that prevents from doing so ?

I don't think they've declared a forthcoming split.

But I can imagine the effect of a new 3 for 1 split.

Natham
Would be fun if they announce a split. Super big pop and all.
No SEC regulation prevents them from splitting(to my knowledge)
but I am sure Bezos and Co. will literally get lynched by a few grizzlies
on this thread! ;)
There would be so many cries of "manipulation", and Bateman will
become a regular on this thread!!!
Man, I am sooo glad that I covered my short after a 10% stop loss.
I could have lost my shoyt on this baby if I hadn't swallowed that
bitter pill!
Another possibility is that yhoo might split. That would cause
amzn to go up in sympathy(that too would be fun to watch!)

No such regulation.

The company can do 2-1, 3-1, or 4-1
unless the majority of shareholders is against it.

The only persons (I can think of) will be against such
proposal are probably Martians or Klingons.

You guys dont know much about splits, stock etc.

Some people have said AMZN could split 2-for-1, 3-for-1, 4-for-1.

Wrong!

edgar-online.com
On AMZNs Mar 98 10-Q filed mid-May it clearly states AMZN has 100 MM shares authorized. AMZN has ~ 48.3 MM shares outstaninding. It could split 2-for-1. It cant split 3 or 4 for-1 because it does not have the authorized shares to do so. However, it is easy to authorize more shares--and AMZN may have done so recently. From what I can tell though--they only have 100 MM shares to work with right now. If the company comes out and says they are authorizing more shares--then they are showing their cards and a split will probably follow.
