Thanks to superior investor relations, BETT has stellar volume at the open this morning. NOT!

While we are waiting for Anita to collect her thoughts, I thought this would be interesting to share with the thread.

LHS Creates New Business Division to Market APSIS Product Worldwide
biz.yahoo.com

ATLANTA and FRANKFURT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1998--LHS announced today the creation of a new business division to market its APSIS (Application Platform for SIM Card Services) system on a worldwide basis.

APSIS is a smart-card-based system using the standard GSM Short Message Service (SMS) for data communication and application download. The core platform product, called SIM Card Service Center (SSC), is the link between the operator's server-based applications (e.g. programs, databases, and Internet gateways) and the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) as gateway to the GSM network. The SSC consists of a database and a collection of server processes in order to provide data control flow and transmission for application processing. The SSC handles all service requests automatically, including complex transactions requiring many messages exchanged between the mobile client and server applications.

RECALL: Hughes used a similar system to place his bet at the mobile conference.

"At the Mobile Commerce '98 Conference held in London on June 23 and 24, ET&T and Betting Inc., using the Newcom Platform, will pass a GSM SMS (short message service) message to the ET&T bank host server detailing a $100 smart-card bet."
