What is it about us lawyers that would cause you to make such a statement?

Familiarity. You know what they say about familiarity.

I grew up working summers at my Dad's law firm. I must have done fifty thousand title searches. Couriered 140 billion documents. My Dad was too cheap to pay for real couriers (or for L3s to work summers).

The "confidential" files made for some interesting reading. When the old man was in court and everything else was slow, I'd spend days in the file room and library. I learned what words like pederasty meant reading some of my Dad's books. I won't go into the files, but I learned that the truth is WAY stranger than fiction.
