Earlie, a Greek error again -g-
<<as the dippers are still more or less intact>>

It's dipsters, not dippers.

Earlie. Tonight was the midnight madness sale at CompUSA to promote the official release of Windows 98. CompUSA had great bargains: 15" monitors for $98, $10 24X CD-ROMS, free 16MB of memory etc. with most deals being after rebates. Plus there were nearly free modems, cd-rom drives, etc. for the first 40 or so customers.

At the CompUSA I visited, I was customer #130 in a line of about 300. (The TV stations were there filming the event with cops conveniently placed for crowd control.) Just before the doors opened at 12:01 a.m. some guy from the very back of the line stood up and asked "Raise your hand if you are here to buy Windows 98?" Of the 150 or so people that heard him, NO ONE raised their hand and there were many blank stares. It was frightening. Inside CompUSA it was like KMART during blue-light specials. <g> All the conveniently placed racks of Windows 98 software were essentially untouched. Yikes!

After returning home with my great bargain of a $10 24x CD-Rom (after rebate) my girlfriend said "And what are we going to do with that one, we already have two of them." ...OK, next time I'll wait until they are free. <G>
