This resistance with outsourcing has been a factor since the early days in Rochester. Even when they were in the old mill basement (where you had to duck under the HVAC conduits) they maintained that "control of their own destiny" was more important than the cost benefits.

Probably not a bad idea as a start-up, however the huge investment in physical equipment and facilities along with inventory has weighed heavily on their profitability for years. The roots to this concern can be traced back to where the founders (most of them anyway) came from.

I agree with Teflon though that what your seeing here is a definite "plan" that CB has in mind. I wouldn't be at all surprised if eventually we learn that this has been in the works for almost a year and is part of the reason Levine left. Reed was a placebo for the big boys and when they still didn't want to play he was gone. Benson will win and its not about the money, this is personal.
