I have heard the phrase "Internet is the Future" many times.
I agree that it has potential, what I am not convinced about is that:

-the rate of growth will be sustained; it is possible that a significant portion of the potential customers are already on line.
-the current infrastructure plain sucks. I tried various ISPs (recently MCI) for a while both in the NE and now in the NW and my experience has been rather poor about both the ability to install and configure their software and worst was the speed of transmission; always found that the connection through the company where I work was much much better. It deos not seem likely that all ISPs are going to sink much $ into infra development; they are more likely to grab more customers onto the existing loaded networks to get the revenue or hope someone buys them for a premium (ask AOL) than improve service to existing customers.
