Walmart became the worlds largest retailer in the world because a man named Sam went to all of the leading retailers once upon a time, and told them about his radical ideas for a new way to sell. They laughed the behinds off at Sam, so he went out and started his own store. Now, the only retailer left that laughed at him is Kmart, and aren't they doing wonderfully. Walmart makes it's money buy: getting the manufacturer to come in and put their stock on the shelves. Walmart doesn't pay for the product until it sells. As a matter of fact walmart doesn't pay for the product until 120 days after it goes through the cash register. Why do manufacturers put up with this? 172 billion in sales last year thats why. Samw Waltons heirs in 1996 made 4 out of the top ten spots on the richest in america list. Sharing the list were rich devos, bill gates. I have a nice little article here on Walmart that I am quoting this from. Point is, if you are successful in getting your product into a trial run with walmart. The coscos, targets, kmarts, etc put you on a list of companies they are immediately willing to do business with. Is getting your product in a walmart trial run a guarantee? NO, but just getting there means you beat out some 18,000 other companies trying to get in. If the trial shelf space that TCBG gets, moves the product relatively fast, then they are sure to get a renewal. ----------------------------------------------
