According to the Asian papers, it's mostly family members and friends of those in the upper reaches of the government and legislature that own the factories where the fake holograms, fake CDs, fake manuals and so forth are created. The exception seems to be when the American businessmen doing the complaining actually own the pirate factory and distribution. (To avoid the song royalties, etc.) When they promise to stop this practice it's a joke.

Now I don't blame them. When the average guy make 500 bucks a year, you ain't gonna pay 500 bucks for NT Server or 20 bucks for Madonna albums. I totally get that. You're not gonna let your country go without just because some rich American wants more money.

But I know the software protection posturing is a joke, for sure.
