Doby,

"But there might be one exception. I also recieve mail from "stockpicker".
He's been offering his service for free at the moment but he shorts stock 95% of the
time."

Even a shorter has to have liquidity in the market.

At the moment, because of market conditions he's having trouble finding stocks to
short.

In these market conditions lately, all he has to do is look to Junior Mining Stocks with NR's coming out and alot of hype on the long side. Most cases they are down in heavy selling two days after the release. That has been the trend with a good number of them.Funds and institutional investors reducing or eliminating their position to handle the anticipated redemptions if the market goes really bearish.
"But I'm wondering if you feel as I do that it would be far more difficult to pull a scam
investing this way?"

Once again, Liquidity is the name of the game. You need someone to sell to and then someone to buy the stock back from at the lower price but it can be done.It can be done but markets are truly fickle and you need to be able to move quick and don't hesitate with your decisions.Liquidity can dry up pretty quick.
