You need this new book that just came out: "Idiots Guide To Day Trading" It has a chapter about how MM's make money. All the best!

Colin, check out elitetrader.com. Baron Robertson has a great advanced tutorial which is free. He also has an Advanced Daytrading Course which, for only $199, is about five times less than most comparable courses. It is all online, so you can access it immediately. It will be the best 200 bucks you spend, and it will show you clearly how the MM's make their money. Check out the site. There's a wealth of other information there that is worthy of your time. They also have a chat room that I and other traders hang out in during the day. Another free place you can learn tons. See you there, hopefully. Len
