Don't hold your breath on xDSL rollout. I worked on ISDN & ADSL technology for a while and dealt with RBOCs companies before. They all have no clue when it comes to digital domain. They hang on their analog copper wires for too long. It has been 4 years since they rolled out ISDN service in my area, and yet it still takes them a full month to get it working. It's not the technology, it's their execution and commiment to provide consumer with a faster & higher bandwidth to access the Web. Since xDSL is just another upgrade from ISDN, I still don't have any confident in them to do it right this time.

On the other hand, AT&T did not have a good record of execution either, but at least its motivation to serve consumers right this time is strong enough for me to think it may actually work. Plus, TCI is not going let AT&T tardiness screw it all up. Not when you have John C. Malone in charge.

Time Warner in my area begins to offer Road Runner, running 400 times faster than my 28.8 modem for $45 a month. They will bundle Microsoft IE & Time Warner Content Page as the default home page. Now, that's when I think AOL may lose it all. I'm leaving AOL as my ISP and moving on to Earthlink. AOL is slow and keep logging me off all the time. I think ISP is ISP is ISP. They all are pretty much the same. All I care now is SPEED!
