Apropos of nothing in particular; I was speaking with IR lady at
ASND and she said that in US, buying decisions, by the telcos, are based on lots of testing of all the brands but that in the rest of the
world "relationships" were much more important. She also made the
point that LU's history of dealing with voice rather than data was
more of a hindrance to them than generally thought.

None of this is earth shaking, I only post it in the hope that it may
trigger something in those of you more knowledgeable in this industry.

A point on 56K. I have three USR Courier x2 modems that I upgraded to v.90. It was free, but after using the v.90 for a month or so, I uninstalled the upgrade back to x2. It just didn't work correctly.
I was told that the v.90 upgrade was not finalized.
My personal experience is that the manufacturers where in a big hurry to get this done.
At our expense.
