Say ATT/TCOMA can provide consumers the next killer application - Video on demand or 500 channels. They can guarantee that given 1/3rd of the cable watching families watching TV (regardless of which channel they are tuned into) will see your commercial... don't they get a fee for this?

Seems to me ATT should get the million dollar fees networks get now when there is a large viewing audience is watching. (Eg. Superbowl, Seinfeld's last episode). Why? Because with 500 channels the networks can't guarantee ratings... but ATT can guarantee everybody watching will see your commercial.

They also can collect data on each customers likes and dislikes so advertisers can target the customers most likely to purchase your products.

"So, we're confident that under AT&T's ownership, TCI's cable infrastructure will be opened up so we and others can purchase broadband connectivity wholesale and make it available to our online customers," Case also said.

Fear and loathing @ AOL. AT&T will soon be in a position to offer superior Internet access to one third of AOL customers, and they are under no obligation to share their network with AOL. To compete, AOL may be forced to offer xDSL for $20-25/mo.

"In addition to announcing that earnings would beat estimates by at least 8 - 10 cents yesterday, here's another wrinkly that didn't get much attention..."

You'd think a little news that that might have a wire article attached somewhere out there...even in the midst of the merger. News like T exceeding earnings by approx. 10% might at least get a one liner from Reuters or Bloomberg.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd appreciate you sharing the news article that reported this. Please post the URL.

Thank you.
