>>1) Surely this has happened sometime prior in recorded history, right? If so when and what "happened" at THAT time?<<

I'm no Nostradamus but FWIW I looked up the chart for this date and couldn't see anything terribly significant. Yes there are four planets that are more or less conjunct (sun, mercury, saturn and jupiter which are all square to uranus) but as far as I know (which is not far cause astrology is not my bag) this is not particularly significant or unusual. Large conjunctions happen all the time especially when the sun and mercury are involved because those two bodies move very fast and are often in the same part of the sky.

9r - The best perspective on planetary alignment would be from outside the solar system. They all revolve in roughly the same plane, so the very best view would be from "above" that plane.

Since all the planets revolve at different speeds and distances, they tend to be at very different points in their circle around the sun. But of course it is possible that many (or all) end up on the same side at some time. It's also possible (but less likely) that they could be found in the same 90 degree quadrant of the circle. Reduce the number of degrees of that section even more and you get even better "alignment".

Hope I've painted a clear picture for you.
Pete

Hi O/49R
I enjoy this thread very much, mostly as a lurker.
I am a gold and silver bug, but immensely enjoy this for the great current events and for the most part, well thought out responses. You and many others on this thread have shared your experience and knowledge and troubled yourselves to post great URLS from around the world to share important human interest and investing information to all. A very BIG thank you to all of you !!!
I would like to make a comment as we quickly march toward the year 2000. Throughout recorded history mankind has shown strange tendencies as centuries and the last millenium clicked over. Mankind is repeating history as usual. The Nostradamus story, The Y2K problem, many cults,
even govts. are predicting apocalypse soon.
This is the time when we have to be strong of mind and will.
Parents must warn their kids, spouses must reassure each other, friends must stick together. The world will not end, life will go on as usual, as it has for centuries.
The internet can be of great service in spreading this word. Did you know that in the year 999 many farmers were so sure the world was going to end that they did not bother to plant crops that spring, causing a great fammine?
I guess the point of my rambling is that as the year 2000 draws closer
we must be ware of the much more than usual amount of doom-sayers out there.
Good luck
Dave T.
