July 98 Diabetes Forecast (publication of American Diabetes Association), says on page 20:

"Starting this month Medicare will cover glucose meters, test strips, outpatient training in diabetes management, and lancets for people with type 2 Diabetes. As we go to press, the details of the implementation are still being worked out.
"We'll have a complete summary in next months issue of Diabetes Forecast"

Page 11 (opposite the magazine's mission statement) is a full page ad for Liberty Medical Supply with a tear-off postcard. The ad focuses on the non-insulin users benefits, in the large picture at the top and in the text and postcard.

Page 40 has another Liberty ad, citing the non-insulin benefits at the bottom.

There are a number of other (mostly full page) ads for similar vendors, all later in the magazine than Liberty. One is on page 42, and the other 8 are all bundled in the magazine's "Shoppers Guide". Only three of these 9 ads mention the non-insulin dependent issue directly or indirectly.

There were no other articles of interest to this forum, except one for Viagra (not yet considered a diabetic "supply".)<grin>
