Steve - Rambus is real. It will provide the next-generation Intel-architecture systems with the ability to support faster processor speeds without bottlenecking on memory access, currently the biggest problem this architecture has. It will also reduce costs for Alpha based systems if they incorporate Rambus since Alpha currently uses expensive, low volume technology to achieve high speed memory access. Rambus owns the technology which is licensed to the memory manufacturers.
