As far as the first half is concerned, no question about the fact that the Dutch were a superior team.....

But in the second half, they were erased, as for your claim that the Mexican team deserved red cards...... disagree 200% all they did is give the dutch two things,

1. A spoonful of their own medicine, i.e. played hard, just like the Dutch play.

2. They NEVER gave up... they even scored (not a near goal, they do not count), a third goal, as for the off-side..... questionable, but I am willing to concede it, but the red card... please, please.

The Dutch are no damiselles.... they are VERY TOUGH players.... I simply do not understand what happened to them.

in a way, Holland is lucky that Mexico was very stiff, and their defense was horrendous, the early Dutch goal certainly did not help.

But I have learned this over and over... OVERCONFIDENCE can and Will kill a team, that unexplainable arrogance will defeat the best team on its own...

More and more I understand why the Brazilians have outplayed everyone else, I have yet to see an arrogant Brazilian team, in spite of their tremendous skill....

Sorry about your disgust, I can certainly understand it, but remember, in Soccer, (as probably in any other sport), it is the results that count, everything else is "noise".....

As to a "walk over"...... well I don't think so..... and as I say, the game takes 90 minutes, and to win you MUST score more than your opponent.

This World Cup is not over by a LONG, LONG SHOT.

****************** OT ***********************

CPQ is on the "Come Back Trail" too.... May be the Mexican team will teach a lesson to the stodgy Compaq Computer high priests..

MEXICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOLAZO00000OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EL MATADOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RATONCITOS NO MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, talk about excitement, it could get even better than this!! I exercised my finger by alternating channels so much today<ggggg>. I couldn't keep away from watching Belgium's attacks the last 10 minutes and I barely missed Matador's goal...so I had to click to the Spanish channel raise the volume and enjoy the announcer's battle cries: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOl, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, EL Matadoooooooooooooooooor.

This Mexican team has done something extraordinaire, could be a WC record. They went down by one goal to the Koreans, came back and won 3-1, then they went down 2-0 to Belgium and Holland and came back to tie 2-2. There is a God, the invalids Belgians are going home...good riddance. S. Korea missed a great chance to get their first WC victory. Watching those 10 minutes at the end were a heartbraker. But Matador's goal made it a mute point.

I agree, this referree was simply HORRIBLE. It seemed that each fall or bump was a foul. Some of these regular bumps or falls got undeserved yellows. He nearly lost it at the end of the first half. That's what happens when you call such a tight game. Players try to take advantage of it and you see all these dives and protests...players know how to take advantage of referrees who show such tendencies. And then the moronic 4 steps call on Campos. And then the moronic red card on the Mexican. Goldfinger, I don't agree this referee was detrimental to the Dutch. He was just a bad referee. May we nominate him for the Moron thread? (Hear that K has received a lifetime membership there, true?<ggg>)

Holland, regardless of it performance in the second half, showed that they have a great team. Goldfinger I know you are disappointed but you should not be...they had the first place locked up. You are up by two goals, you have a referee who thinks a yellow is necessary as breathing, you obviously don't take as many chances...I know now they can play as well as the first twenty minutes....and they will. Your team could be the one this year. I will have to revise my final four estimates to include them probably.

I am just delighted by these Mexicans, can you say dark horse???

George
