Please go back to my post regarding to your moronic response to
to the Pirelli/Ascend announcement. Even a half-wit like yourself would be able to see that I never said that the 36170 would not be capable of doing the same thing.

Techwatch --

Your abusive manner is totally out of place. The NN thread is made up of a group of shareholders from all walks of life. Some are engineers, some attorneys, some investment advisors and brokers, some, like myself, individuals with little expertise other than a willingness to seek as many sources of information as possible in an attempt to make informed investment decisions. No one person has all the answers. To my knowledge no one claims to.

Our goal is to share information in a way that we can all benefit. When we don't agree, we express our differences with courtesy and respect. Zbyslaw is one of the most informed posters on the thread and is always open to varying opinions when expressed in an adult manner.

As for the issue at hand, it appears that both companies have prototypes capable of demonstrating interaction between ATM and DWDM. Since I'm an avid Ascend follower, along with NN, I'd like to know what DWDM capabilities they have in-house, and lacking that, where they'll get it. When I attended their annual meeting, I asked Mory if they were looking to acquire WDM technology and he said no. Has that changed?

Regards,

Pat

Techwatch: Now that you taken off your battle gear, how about getting us lay folks upto speed . As I see it:

Upto now Sonet was the protocol used in high speed Fibre WAN's.
DWDM was the invention to break up the light into a max of 32 discrete wave bands each of which had its owm mux and demux gear at each end.

Does The ASND invention now permits ATM to be used directly with DWDM and eliminates the Sonet stage. If so, what are the implications for existing ATM switches.?

Thanks.

Techwatch, there is no problem with frank debate, but personal attack is totally uncalled for. Your gratuitous, inflammatory comments add nothing to the sharing of fact/opinion about the merits/demerits of the company. Your comment is unfortunate in that you have worthwhile information/opinion to share.
Please take my observations as they are intended, constructive criticism. I look forward to reading your future posts.
Regards, Ed
