Once "Video on Demand" is available the networks, MSFT, and the portal companies like YAHOO, DISNEY, EXCITE will dump. Why? Because anyone will be able to create a portal or search engine or window or mobile agent with future high level software applications with a small investment and a couple dozen programmers. You have to own the cable going between where the content is provided and the home, or the content, or the box, or the product being advertised. They will raise rates big time once they consumers get use to having any channel they desire. There will be a Martial Art channel for Jackie Chan fans, and Customizable Sports Channel so you can watch your favorite teams no matter where they are playing, and a basket weaving channel for Underwater basket weavers and you will pay per view for each channel. And the advertisers will pay per customer for targeted channels or customers or to have their commercial viewed by everyone when they turn on their PC/TV set. Heard Sony will have Microsoft CE on their next Playstation Box. That means you will be able to buy a Playstation/Web surfing/cable modem TV set top box for less than $500. Sony SNE already is making movies and content. The $150 playstation already plays 3D games better than a $2500 PC. PC games must be loaded, game designers have to program for all the different possible configurations, and 18 months later the new games won't run on your system because your system is to slow forcing you to upgrade. So you have a 18 month window to buy games for a $2500 box that is worth $500 two years later. See further consolidation in Telephone/Cable/Content providers. Buy T, NWS, SNE, ....
