MSI Launches Enhanced Planet CDMA Software for All Tomorrow's
Planning Requirements

SINGAPORE, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Systems International (MSI) has launched a radical new enhanced CDMA
version of its world acclaimed Planet software. Planet CDMA (version 2.8) incorporates a unique approach to network
planning, design and optimisation, offering complete tailor-made solutions for the global CDMA operators.

''Planet 2.8 is the most powerful software tool available to the world's CDMA mobile operators today,'' said Tom Butler,
MSI's Chief Executive Officer. ''Planet is used by more than 60 operators world-wide to quickly and accurately design, high
quality networks with optimum coverage. It has proved to reduce capital costs by up to 25 percent.''

With a whole new portfolio of enhanced capabilities, Planet CDMA is uniquely designed to address every individual operator's
needs today. It also supports tomorrow's 3rd Generation systems and services including W-CDMA, W-cdmaOne(TM) and
UMTS technologies.

Software packages available range from: Planet Viewer to Planet Advanced -- each with increasing in levels of functionality,
capability and sophistication. This range of products enables customers to tailor their purchases to their particular functional
requirements, regardless of their development stage or wireless technology standard deployed.

Packed with new features:

Fully compatible with earlier Planet releases, Planet CDMA Version 2.8 is packed with a series of powerful new and enhanced
features, expanding the capabilities of the tool and making it applicable to new emerging and evolving mobile standards of the
future.

Features include:

NEW Third Generation (3G) Functionality: New Planet CDMA features support the emerging technologies of 3G
systems and will support the evolving standards of the future. Planet 2.8 is designed to work with Multiple User Types --
allowing mixed traffic types scenarios to be analysed such as: different users, types of traffic and types of mobile handset.
Other key features incorporate the essential future needs of wireless operators, such as: bandwidth on demand, variance
in bandwidth, traffic rates and designs for both fixed and mobile subscribers.
NEW Analysis Save and Export: This feature provides operators with extensive new flexibility in the way systems are
analysed. Systems can be analysed against live data, simulations and link budgets. Results can be stored or exported for
future use saving valuable engineering time and resources. New display creation features enable faster and more
productive analysis to be performed.
NEW Multiple Carrier Analysis: As usage on the network increases, busier cells can start to suffer from coverage
contraction leading to dropped calls and congestion. Planet CDMA identifies these areas where demand is greatest,
allowing operators to add additional capacity through carriers, rather than by additional sites. These results in lower
capital costs and major savings on unnecessary infrastructure outlay.
NEW Enhanced Integrated Microwave Planning Tool: Connecting base stations to controllers and switches within a
mobile network can be both an expensive and lengthy process, either by installing microwave links or leasing lines from
the PTT. Planet's new CDMA Microwave planning tool has been significantly improved with numerous new features
allowing operators to quickly design a quality transmission network resulting in substantial cost savings and fast time to
market.
A NEW Database Query Tool: For access, interrogation, analysis and processing of database information from within
Planet. This enables rapid determination of design faults and deficiencies, thereby increasing efficiency and effectiveness
of engineering staff by eliminating tedious manual activities. An integrated Display Tool also allows users to display colour
coded data based on a number of parameters in tables or geographical formats, and export of data to and from other
software products.

Customer choices:

Planet 2.8 will be available in four distinct modular packages, specifically tailored to meet differing technological and functional
user requirements. For example, a CDMA operator can choose from any combination of:

Planet Viewer -- For management and customer care applications; it includes: map coverage and database display functions,
report generator and statistics tools

Planet Designer -- As Viewer above, with Predictor, Traffic, Link Budget Tool and the CDMA Save & Export Analysis option

Planet Extended: As Designer with Multi-carrier, PN Offset Planning, Survey Analysis and Test Mobile modules.

Planet Advanced: As Extended with Microcell, Multi-user, Hierarchical Cell Layers and Automatic Model Tuning modules

''The theme behind Planet is customer productivity, giving 'faster to market' quality solutions and substantial cost benefits,'' said
Tom Butler. ''Rapid engineering of networks and substantial savings on infrastructure outlay are just two of the key benefits
which Planet 2.8 offers our customers. A host of cutting edge features have been designed to deliver the ultimate in network
quality, capacity and coverage for operators now and in the future.''

MSI recently announced availability of Planet on Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R). It will continue to be available on the powerful
Sun(TM) and HP UNIX(TM) platforms -- providing customers with a wide choice of network or stand-alone deployment
options.
