Peter,
I love to sit back and listen to all these people who pretend to be so knowledgeable in the switching area second guess Cs' purchase of NETVA. One person even flat out said the purchase had no value. I don't pretend to be that knowledgeable in the area and I certainly don't pretend to try to say for sure why CB bought them. What I do like though is thoughtful analyisis of the reasons why he might have. I do believe one thing..there was a reason and the reason had something to do with turning CS around. Posts like yours are also very insightful because they give us something concrete to analyze. Keep them coming. I will be at the shareholder meeting listening for any sign of what is really going on here.

<CB said CS would solve the problem by internal development>

I am sure (very sure) that this area has been a large focus of internal development. The acquisition of NETVA represents to me a failure of internal development to create the correct 10/100 products and is a disapointment as we are talking a large chunk of dollars that could have gone to other areas of development. I do not believe that there was a scheme to wait for a cheaper company to acquire as this area is and always was much to critical to wait for.

However I am glad that the management team was able to recognize the need and fill it even though it must have upset some of the internal development teams.

Thnx
Mike
