Hi Scanner! Sensitive, considerate person that I am, I seldom call attention to the truly miserable mistakes that sprout weedlike around here. And who has time, anyway? Besides, have you ever noticed that, unfailingly, when you correct someone, you make a worse mistake yourself? And that's really humiliating. Also it seems that English corrections are not looked upon favorably by many. Those who cherish our language are seen as arrogant and affected snobs by those who, without guilt, pulverize pronouns and violate verbs mercilessly. I consider my true friends those who have sent frantic PMs and e-mails telling me about errors so I can right them within the 15 minute time frame. That's real friendship. Hey-I'm from Virginny and we say "went off on" all the time. It's not right?
