The book by David Brin is quite good. I haven't seen the movie. But if it is at all like "Waterworld", I'm not sure I want to. Costner seems to have a fairly dark opinion of human nature.

And that doesn't even count the previews. I wonder how long it will be before KC gets anybody to front him a hundred mil or so to do another one of these yawners. Although I hear he's lobbying to do a redo on Cleopatra, with himself as Mark Antony and Michelle Pfeiffer as Cleobaby. Only in this version, Antony doesn't gut himself on the ol' Wilkinson, no way, he pontificates for a half hour and then ruminates into the Egyptian sunset.

Now what a movie that was!! I saw it when I was seven and I thought it was GREAT!! It was the first movie that was so long I didn't have to stay to see it twice. Mothers loved dropping their kids off for that one. I was interested to find out that it ended up having six consecutive directors, the first being Alfred Hitchcock. Only he took a powder when he started seeing that this gobbler was something he was just not going to put his name on.

Spouse had her hand on the Fast Forward button, bringing the total time to a much handier two hours. The two things that got timewarped were 1) all that nastiness and 2) the long slow meaningful interstitial stuff. She complained that there were a lot of these twenty-second scenes of Kevvie-dear just walking down a road or something. I offered that he was trying to establish atmosphere. Spouse responded with a remarkably compact Anglo-Saxon phrase which effectively communicated to me that she did not share KC's sense of the dramatic.

You have never seen Animal House?

You should watch it soon, especially with your boys zeroing in on college age. You may think twice.

When they tell you they are on double secret probation, you'll know what they mean.

Go Faber!!
