Pat: Thx for those links to the knowledge tree. In brief, those articles confirm that there is a trend towards dynamic DWDM using narrower bands. Further there is a drive towards optical switches which will allow native Frame protocols to be multiplexed directly on dedicated channels freed up when OC transmission loads are low. Based on this, it would seem fair to infer that existing ATM switches will need to be modified/updated to accommodate such changes. The big Q is whether NN's Edge switches can provide IP over Sonet. As for the ASND switch, would you agree that they have successfully trialed one.! Regards.
