The Britannica is known to contain inaccuracies about Islam. It was the Meccan chiefs who broke the agreement with Muhammad (Pbuh). Muslims were routinley killed and persecuted by the Meccan Chiefs. Islam never asserted the specifically Arabian character. Islam knows know country. It doesn't matter Arab or Non Arab, Chinese or Japanese, Russian or German, American or Non American, etc., all are equal before the eyes of God. This is why Muslims all wear the same clothing when making pilgrimage. In God's eyes, rich or poor, Arab or Non Arab, these issues have no bearing. Thbe Britanncia is a High School reference. It is widely known to carry lies and errors about Islam. One version once claimed that Muslims worshipped stones and was quickly retracted after the Islamic people protested it being on the market. I'm not at all surprised to see more errors contained about Islam. If you want to learn about Islam, go to a non-bias source. I have been trying to act as one here for some time. Ray
