just like my car at the airport is subject to stealing, but I don;t not drive and park my car, I just deal with it. The idea that hacking is going to kill you is no more replusive than someone knowing that someone can kill you wiht a knife late at night. I just don;t particularly sweat this. I back up regularly, keep seneitive data off the machine that is on all the time, and go on. Much like you don't carry around expensive jewlery all the time, you lock it up and take precautions which have been told to you since you were born. I guess if you grew up with stuff like this, you pretty much take it in stride. If your from the old world where you think computers and data are much differnt from anything else you have, then perhaps you have a problem.

this exact thing is not well dealt with by the usoft PC groups. they have not taken the "on all the time" idea and made good, well distributed, and installed protection software. There is a major niche here for a security firm (us alram, Westec, etc) to sell a branded product which does this well. there are packages out there which do this now. Sell it just like you sell an alarm for your home.
