Spacing will depend on the depth and drainage of wells in a particular area. That's an excellent question. Any help from anyone out there in lurker land on West Virginia spacing statutes would be a big help. I do believe however, that most of the wells in West Virginia will be shallow coal bed methane gas wells newly drilled by the company. These wells will possess tax credits, being that President Carter designated coal bed methane as an alternative fuel source, back during his administration. These credits do expire in 2001 however. I believe that most of the behind pipe recovery will take place in mature fields in Wyoming, Texas and the gulf coast areas of the country, where mtei is currently looking at future acquisitions.

Regards,

Bob

Check out the map on the info thread. There is an interactive map there and you can get an idea of # of non-orphaned wells in say Lincoln Co. Will have to query the database but the information is there. Get the total acreage of Lincoln Co. and bingo. Or you could wait.
