Ausdauer, unless and until SNDK discloses the terms of its royalty agreements and/or the sources of its royalty revenues (or someone leaks this info) there is no way to know which companies are obliged to pay what amounts, if any. Since we can not associate a known royalty stream with a particular chip, I fail to see the importance of knowing which chips are used to make a particular CF card.

IMHO, SNDK's silence on this matter is deafening.

"Most of these companies are so-called "package assemblers" who get the flash chip and the controller and make their own CF device by the CFA standards. They apparently do not pay revenues except those hidden in the raw flash chip costs."

So does Sandisk manufacture the chips or get royalties from other companies that manufacture the chips?

" Other companies simply purchase finished product and resell it with their private label, perhaps because they don't have the know how or manpower to worry about production of each item in their diverse product line. Most of these companies also sell standard memory, flash cards and SmartMedia for example."

I thought the finished product WAS the flash cards.
