Nobody would use MUSE if the pill worked as well or was as safe. I agree completely with that proposition, however the data suggest that the pill does not work as well or is as safe as MUSE. Re: The much touted 70% success rate of the pill...... First of all the group with the success rate of 70% also had a success rate of 50% with sugar pills. And in the Viagra study showing this, the definition of "success" was "an improvement in erections" in a group of men who had intercourse "several times" over the preceding months before the study. Viagra did not even have a study where the men had "no erections sufficient for intercourse" in the months preceding the study. MUSE did. This is why the FDA approved Viagra as "an erection enhancer" and not as a "impotence therapy" and it is likely that insurers may use this distinction to continue to cover MUSE and not cover Viagra. Finally, a little insight into impotence. Most men have, by age 45, had a least one "failure" in bed. After this happens, they get self-concious and this leads to what is called "spectatoring". i.e. instead of focusing on their partner, which would arouse them, they focus on their own erection. Now, to most heterosexual men, mentally focusing on the male organ is NOT arousing, so this leads to another "failure". A series of these and they are off to the doc to find out what is wrong. Whether they get Viagra or MUSE, the next time they try, they "succeed". Because they stop spectatoring. Suddenly, the pressure is off, and they find that they can have erections and intercourse in the future, without the drug. So you lose a refill but gain a happy tale of being "cured" by the medication. We will now see Viagra scripts fall for this reason, but not completely. And I think those with the "tough organic impotence" will continue using what ever medication helps, if they really desire to have sex, (and their partner does too) so there will be demand for both treatments and Caverject, too. I haven't posted much recently, frankly the whining is annoying, (only a couple of posters, you know who you are) and because I'm one of those, "incompetant, uncaring physicians", I forgot how to post and I just didn't give a damn. PFE longs are starting to whistle in the dark. They are about to uncover the dark side of the "hottest drug introduction" in history - how Wall Street treats declining sales (even though, big as it is Viagra is not a large part of PFE sales). Have Pfun !! Zebra
