<<< There is a block in place that prevents one from trading these stocks on the short side, hence the need for Mb to start the trade for you. I spend alot of time on the short side, and more often than not, the trade is long gone before i could start the process of locating shares. Other than this new development, I consider MbTrading to be a superb tool for the daytrader>>>

That really is too bad. I never opened my account with MB because of the "hard to borrow" list. It seemed all of my favorites were on it. It looks like the only advantages now over a back up account at Waterhouse are the intraday account balance updates, and the extra intra day buying power. Negatives are the higher commission, and the use of the ECN rather than a market maker to represent orders on the bid and ask. It looks like MB will be my second backup broker, when I get that far.

I usually know what I want to short at the start of the day, and what I would do with Waterhouse, was to put in my orders to reserve the shares early, then when the time came I'd call the broker, and have him execute the trade. You might want to consider that strategy with MB.
