Richard, I think your explanation is probably one of the major reasons that splits sometimes improve demand for shares. Another reason is track record. Usually splits occur in stocks that are doing well. So the rumor of a split is accepted as a sign that a company is doing well. Thus a split is a result of to some extent success rather than a cause of success. I think it is clear that there will be a split of some sort. At one time there was a rumor of a 1.5 : 1 split so I would consider that to remain a possibility. I think it will be sooner rather than later.
