The bug in the Xeon is an interaction between the CPU and the 450NX chipset when greater than 2 CPU's are used - which was the whole point of the chipset.

The xeon works fine with 2 or less CPU's and the 440GX chipset. I've also heard that a fix may be in the works by changing the xeon's microcode. I don't know if there is a reprogramable kernel in the device or if new silicon needs to be run.

Anyway, 4 CPU devices are supposed to ready in a "few" weeks, according to Intel. This is not a problem similar to the FPU bug the original Pentium 60 & 66 had. You can bet the AMD and Cyrix/National threads are foaming at the mouth.
