If GMGC made an impression on the analysts last week, they would be need to buy shares in advance of issuing a position, assuming they say anything positive. Maybe this down trend will show some accumulation. Are there many big blocks passed? Interesting after all the people went to the meeting and saw the product first hand, no one has said anything critical? Does this mean we have a consensus that Portico is a good product? Regarding Data Rover. I spoke to the demo team. The lady was the same one whom we saw last year. I couldn't resist asking her if I could speak to it and then, "well what's the point" when she said "No". I have a dark side. :o) Still, it's an interesting product. I like the way it boots straight into the program. It's fast and seems easy to use from a vertical standpoint. I'd hate to try typing with the keyboard, but it makes sense in the vertical applications. That is pre programed options using a touc to indicate yes or no. They are selling Data Rover. They have sold some to do parking fines in Oakland, they have nursing students using them at Santa Clara University, they are doing something with Utility companies to read meters. It's using the softmodem technology they invented and then sold to Altocom, it's using 4 meg of flash memory for storage that can be increase using PCMIA slots (slots available), and it costs about $1000. The touch display has a good clear picture. The graphic menu screen was good. They have no bar code reading available which seemed like a missing piece, but then hey were working on it and would use it when an application demanded it. Again, Data Rover is not the blockbuster that you would expect of Portico, but in the near term I don't think it is going to hurt revenues and earnings. I was a little worried based on their commitment to buy a minimum quantity. As far as Speech Recognition, they are still not willing to say who they use. Interesting comment from one engineer was that they had done so much work adding to the system they use, they practically could use their own in house ASR. They are also improving Accuvoice Text to Speech. They say their version works much better than what you can buy direct from the company. I hope so, as you may know I don't feel this product is good enough. Also, Microsoft is paying 6 million in royalties to incorporate Agent technology into NT. This is going to give them a broad platform to use and sell applications into. They have no agreement with Sun, but they are talking to everyone. Finally. there was a man there whom I saw on CNBC commenting on the TCI/AT&T merger. I wanted to speak to him, but was in the middle of getting an answer on the 32 million stock deal from the CFO. I wasn't able to catch him before he disappeared. Too bad. I didn't catch his name when I saw him on TV. Perhaps he ws Andew Seybold? Regards, Mark
