Which Battered Semi Stocks Will Recover First? Find Out At Informed Investors Semiconductor Stocks Forum July 25 In Silicon Valley

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 1998-- Semiconductor stocks continue to suffer the ills of the "Asian Flu," but at some point these world-class technology companies will bounce back. Which stocks will recover first, and why?

Those questions and many more will be Topic "A" at the 3rd Annual Informed Investors Semiconductor Stocks Forum, Saturday morning, July 25 at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel. The Forum runs from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is to attend is $20 prepaid; $30 at the door. Audio tapes of the Forum are available. Call 800/992-4683 or 916/448-8222 to register or for more information on tapes. To learn more about Informed Investors, visit www.informedinvestors.com on the internet.

Helping investors analyze the hugely important, but beaten down semiconductor sector -- and the stocks in it -- will be two prominent industry figures, Ron Elijah, portfolio manager of the Robertson Stephens Value & Growth Fund (http://www.rsim.com/funds/vgf/phil.htm) and Charles Boucher, senior semiconductor analyst at Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette (http://www.dlj.com). Elijah is the opening keynote speaker and Boucher will close the Forum with his talk "The State of the Semiconductor Industry."

Executives from up to 12 semiconductor chip, equipment and design companies will give analyst-style presentations to attendees. Companies committed thus far include Asyst Technologies (NASDAQ:ASYT), Lam Research (NASDAQ:LRCX), Credence Systems (NASDAQ:CMOS), 3D Labs (NASDAQ:TDDDF) and 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ:EGHT). Other presenting companies will be announced shortly.

"With semiconductor stocks obviously way off their highs, this is an ideal time for investors to take stock of the semiconductor industry, near term and long term, hearing from company executives and our two excellent keynote speakers," said Tim Quast, Chief Operating Officer of Informed Investors, organizer of the Forum. "Charles Boucher spoke at our Forum last July and gave excellent insight into the industry at that time. Ron Elijah is one of the top portfolio managers in the nation and is often quoted and interviewed in the national press."

Companies Boucher covers at DLJ include: Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD), Texas Instruments (NYSE:TI), Altera (NASDAQ:ALTR), Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ:LSCC), Xilinx (NASDAQ:XLNX), VLSI Technology (NASDAQ:VLSI), LSI Logic (NYSE:LSI) and 3DFX Interactive (NASDAQ:TDFX). As of March 31, the Robertson Stephens Value & Technology fund's top 10 holdings included Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), HBO & Co. (NASDAQ:HBOC) and CompUSA (NYSE:CPU). Normally, Elijah's fund has more technology holdings but he cut back some in the first quarter.

Comments from Boucher and Elijah will prove very insightful to attendees or investors who order the tapes.

"It should be an excellent Forum," Quast said. "Last year's was very good and we expect this year's to be even better."
