Wrong again. No wafers get trashed, no chips get thrown away. The Xeon works fine with a 440GX based system. Haven't you been reading the news? In addition there may very well be in system microcode updates, so they wouldn't have to wait for a new stepping. This feature of the Pentium II generation of processors has been discussed publicly before. Sorry to disappoint you and Ali. I know Ali is in tears.
