Probably Off Topic. It's Friday, so forgive me.

Nah, I don't think it's aimed at either. CyberCash does batch clearing, and cannot be anonymous. True digital cash, where the numbers are the money, is cleared real-time. The bank only checks the stamp on the coin to make sure it hasn't been copied and spent several times. Only if it's already spent can the bank and the recipient of the already-spent coin collude to reveal the spender's identity.

Actually, you can use digital cash right now, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass. Mark Twain Bank has been operating a DigiCash pilot for a couple of years. It has been successful in that, technically, it works great, but there are a limited number of places to spend it.

If things like "persistent reputations" and true anonymity on the Internet interest you, you can purchase connectivity with C2.org with DigiCash. C2.org is run by a guy named Sameer who is a famous pro-privacy activist.

But I run on ...

Have a good weekend all. Heat index is at 105 for Brooks and me. Dunno about our esteemed colleague, but I plan to stay cool by ignoring the lawn and having a few brews.
